Group rules — Defendy

Tip: change one option at a time and verify the result in the group so false positives are easy to spot.

In short

Rules are reusable messages that administrators can show to members and reference from onboarding templates.

How it works

An administrator creates and activates the rule text shown to members.
When /rules is requested, Defendy renders the active content with its formatting and buttons.
The message is sent using the available topic route and follows the auto-delete value.

Set it up step by step

Open Defendy in Telegram and choose the group you want to configure.
Compare the current values with the defaults explained below.
Change one option at a time; use the least disruptive value that meets your goal.
Check the result in the group after saving.

Every setting explained

Enable rules

Default: Off.

Enables group rules.

Auto-delete

Default: 0.

Deletes rule messages after: never, 5, 10 or 30 minutes, or 1 hour. The default is never.

Rules topic

Default: Not set.

The WebApp shows a per-module topic control, but the /setrulestopic command is not available in the current bot build. Keep the global topic enabled.

Inline buttons

Default: None.

Attach links to full rules, support or onboarding pages.

Practical example

Keep five short rules in Telegram and add one button to the full policy. Send /rules as a regular member and verify links before mentioning the rules in a greeting.

Recommendations

Keep a short version in Telegram and link to the full policy if needed.
Rules messages should not contain private or internal-only instructions.
The random-rule and default-rule fields exist only for API compatibility and are not controls in the WebApp.

Troubleshooting

Check that Defendy is still an administrator in the group.
Refresh the settings panel and make sure you are editing the correct group.
If a setting is saved but does not work, check the bot permissions in Telegram.
If you are not sure what happened, open the moderation log.
