Forwarded message filter

Tip: change one option at a time and verify the result in the group so false positives are easy to spot.

In short#

Forward filtering is split by source type because forwards from channels, users, bots and hidden users carry different risk.

How it works#

1. Defendy detects that a message was forwarded and identifies the available source type.
2. Allowed and blocked sources are checked before the general forward policy.
3. A matching forward is deleted or punished according to this module's settings.

Set it up step by step#

1. Open Defendy in Telegram and choose the group you want to configure.
2. Compare the current values with the defaults explained below.
3. Change one option at a time; use the least disruptive value that meets your goal.
4. Check the result in the group after saving.

Every setting explained#

Enable per type#

Default: Off.

Each source type has its own toggle: channel, group, user, bot and hidden user.

Delete message#

Default: On.

Deletes the forwarded message when the rule matches.

Filter media#

Default: On.

Applies the rule to forwarded media messages too.

Allow first message#

Default: Off.

Lets the first message from a member pass even if it is a forward.

Allow self-forward#

Default: Off.

User-forward setting only: allows forwards from the same user.

Action#

Default: Nothing.

What Defendy does after a violation: nothing, warn, notify, mute, kick or ban depending on the feature.

Action duration#

Default: 3600 sec.

How long a temporary mute or restriction lasts. Zero usually means no duration or permanent action.

Warning weight#

Default: 1.

How many warning points this violation adds to the warning system.

Practical example#

Allow forwards from your official channel and from users forwarding their own messages, but delete anonymous-channel forwards. Start without a user sanction to verify source recognition.

Recommendations#

• Use the allowlist for official channels that members are allowed to quote.
• Hidden-user forwards are usually harder to audit, so configure them deliberately.

Troubleshooting#

• Check that Defendy is still an administrator in the group.
• Refresh the settings panel and make sure you are editing the correct group.
• If a setting is saved but does not work, check the bot permissions in Telegram.
• If you are not sure what happened, open the moderation log.
