Captcha troubleshooting

Captcha does not appear#

1. Confirm captcha is enabled for the correct group.
2. Check that the bot can delete messages and manage members.
3. Verify the mode: normal joins and join requests are handled differently.
4. Refresh the administrator list and retry with a non-administrator test account.

Failure action is not applied#

Match the selected action to Telegram permissions. Restrict requires permission to restrict members; kick and ban require permission to ban users. Confirm the member actually exhausted all attempts or the time limit.

The challenge appears in the wrong topic#

If Use global topic is enabled, captcha follows the group-wide topic. Otherwise, send /setcaptchatopic in the desired topic and verify that a positive topic ID appears in the WebApp.

Real members fail too often#

Increase the time limit, allow more attempts, or choose the button type. Change one parameter at a time and review the log before tightening the challenge again.

If the problem remains, send @ubotz the group ID, event time and selected settings without exposing personal data.
