Profanity filter
LiveProfanity filter
Profanity filter settings: dictionaries, custom words, exceptions, media, edits and punishments.
Tip: change one option at a time and verify the result in the group so false positives are easy to spot.
In short
The profanity filter combines a system dictionary with optional custom words and exceptions for group-specific language.
How it works
- The filter checks text and supported media captions against the selected dictionaries.
- Exceptions and custom words change which matches are considered violations.
- Edited messages are checked as well; a violation then triggers deletion and the selected action.
Set it up step by step
- Open Defendy in Telegram and choose the group you want to configure.
- Compare the current values with the defaults explained below.
- Change one option at a time; use the least disruptive value that meets your goal.
- Check the result in the group after saving.

Practical example
Choose the combined dictionary, add an innocent product name to exceptions, and use warning weight 1. Test the word in plain text, a caption and an edited message before rollout.
Recommendations
- Use exceptions before switching to stricter actions.
- Custom dictionaries are useful for local slang, product names and false positives.
Troubleshooting
- Check that Defendy is still an administrator in the group.
- Refresh the settings panel and make sure you are editing the correct group.
- If a setting is saved but does not work, check the bot permissions in Telegram.
- If you are not sure what happened, open the moderation log.
