Reputation notifications

Tip: change one option at a time and verify the result in the group so false positives are easy to spot.

In short#

Notifications tell members when reputation changes. Keep them concise to avoid turning karma into chat noise.

How it works#

1. A reputation increase, decrease or leaderboard overtake creates a notification event.
2. Defendy selects the active template, substitutes its event-specific variables and adds optional marker reactions.
3. The notification is sent to the selected topic and removed after the configured delay.

Set it up step by step#

1. Open Defendy in Telegram and choose the group you want to configure.
2. Compare the current values with the defaults explained below.
3. Change one option at a time; use the least disruptive value that meets your goal.
4. Check the result in the group after saving.

Every setting explained#

Upvote notifications#

Default: On.

Sends a message when reputation increases.

Downvote notifications#

Default: On.

Sends a message when reputation decreases.

Overtake notifications#

Default: Off.

Sends a message when one member overtakes another in rating.

Auto-delete notifications#

Default: 60 sec.

Deletes reputation notifications after the selected time.

Random phrase#

Default: On.

Randomizes active notification templates.

Message markers#

Default: Off.

Adds configured emoji markers to the source or target message.

Notification topic#

Default: Not set.

Optional forum topic for reputation notifications.

Practical example#

Enable upvote notifications, keep downvote and overtake messages off, and delete the notice after 60 seconds. Test the template with a real vote to verify names, score and rank variables.

Recommendations#

• Auto-delete is recommended for active chats.
• Use overtake notifications only when leaderboards are part of the community culture.

Troubleshooting#

• Check that Defendy is still an administrator in the group.
• Refresh the settings panel and make sure you are editing the correct group.
• If a setting is saved but does not work, check the bot permissions in Telegram.
• If you are not sure what happened, open the moderation log.
