Reputation notifications

Tip: change one option at a time and verify the result in the group so false positives are easy to spot.

In short#

Notifications tell members when reputation changes. Keep them concise to avoid turning karma into chat noise.

How it works#

1. A reputation increase, decrease or leaderboard overtake creates a notification event.
2. In Message mode, Defendy fills in an active notification template. In Reaction mode, it marks the selected message with the chosen emoji instead.
3. In Message mode, the notification is sent to the selected topic and removed after the configured delay.

Set up in the Mini App#

1. Open Reputation → Bot response.
2. Select Message, Reaction or no response.
3. For messages, configure positive/negative notifications, texts, automatic deletion and the topic. For reactions, choose the emoji and which message it marks.
4. Enable leaderboard-overtake notifications if useful.
5. Save edited text with Save; switches save separately.

Every setting explained#

Upvote notifications#

Default: On.

Sends a message when reputation increases.

Downvote notifications#

Default: On.

Sends a message when reputation decreases.

Overtake notifications#

Default: Off.

Sends a message when one member overtakes another in rating.

Auto-delete notifications#

Default: 60 sec.

Deletes reputation notifications after the selected time.

Random phrase#

Default: On.

Randomizes active notification templates.

Message markers#

Default: Off.

Adds configured emoji markers to the source or target message.

Notification topic#

Default: Not set.

Optional forum topic for reputation notifications.

Practical example#

Enable upvote notifications, keep downvote and overtake messages off, and delete the notice after 60 seconds. Test the template with a real vote to verify names, score and rank variables.

Recommendations#

• Auto-delete is recommended for active chats.
• Use overtake notifications only when leaderboards are part of the community culture.

Troubleshooting#

• Check that Defendy is still an administrator in the group.
• Refresh the settings panel and make sure you are editing the correct group.
• If a setting is saved but does not work, check the bot permissions in Telegram.
• If logging is connected and the relevant category is enabled, check the event record. The log cannot show events that were not recorded.

Bot response mode#

Under Bot response, choose message, reaction or no response. Selecting a mode changes the related settings; a message and a marker reaction are not independent response switches that can both remain enabled. A bot response reaction is also separate from members voting through reactions. Leaderboard-overtake notifications have their own switch; choosing no ordinary response does not turn them off.
