Advanced reputation settings

Advanced reputation settings: point calculation, cooldowns, anti-abuse, decay and moderation integration.

Tip: change one option at a time and verify the result in the group so false positives are easy to spot.

In short

Advanced controls are for abuse prevention and long-running communities. Change them slowly and watch the impact.

How it works

  1. Before accepting a vote, Defendy checks activity requirements, cooldowns and daily limits.
  2. The fixed or random point mode calculates the score change and applies optional voter costs or decay rules.
  3. After the change, configured high- and low-reputation moderation thresholds are evaluated.

Set it up step by step

  1. Open Defendy in Telegram and choose the group you want to configure.
  2. Compare the current values with the defaults explained below.
  3. Change one option at a time; use the least disruptive value that meets your goal.
  4. Check the result in the group after saving.

Every setting explained

Chat cooldown

Default: 0.

Delay between votes by the same voter across the chat: off, 10, 30, 60 or 300 seconds.

Daily vote limit

Default: 0.

Maximum votes per voter per day: off, 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 50 or 100.

Activity requirements

Default: 0.

Quadratic voting

Default: Off.

Makes repeated votes for the same target more expensive.

Downvote stake

Default: 0.

Reputation cost paid by the voter for a downvote: 0, 1, 2, 3 or 5. Shown only while negative voting is enabled.

Reputation decay

Default: false / 90 days.

Gradually reduces old vote weight. Half-life options are 7, 14, 30, 60, 90, 180 or 365 days and appear only while decay is on.

Leniency above reputation

Default: 0.

Turns the first warning into a notification at or above: off, 25, 50, 100, 200 or 500.

Strict action below reputation

Default: 0.

Applies the configured action immediately at or below: off, −5, −10, −20, −50 or −100.

Skip captcha above (coming soon)

Default: 0.

Reserved threshold for skipping captcha. The current WebApp shows this control disabled; it cannot be configured yet.

Practical example

To slow coordinated voting, require ten messages, set a five-minute pair cooldown and a daily limit of ten. Keep fixed ±1 points until members understand the system.

Recommendations

  • Zero disables most advanced limits.
  • Do not enable decay and random points in the same rollout unless you can explain both to members.

Troubleshooting

  • Check that Defendy is still an administrator in the group.
  • Refresh the settings panel and make sure you are editing the correct group.
  • If a setting is saved but does not work, check the bot permissions in Telegram.
  • If you are not sure what happened, open the moderation log.
