Anti-spam overview

Anti-spam overview: text spam, link filtering, forwarded messages and optional AI checks in Defendy.

Tip: change one option at a time and verify the result in the group so false positives are easy to spot.

In short

Anti-spam consists of several filters. Configure text spam, links, forwards and AI checks separately so false positives stay manageable.

How it works

  1. An incoming message is examined by the enabled text, link and forward filters.
  2. Each filter applies its own exceptions and decides whether the message is suspicious.
  3. The configured action is applied and the event can be written to the moderation log.

Set it up step by step

  1. Open Defendy in Telegram and choose the group you want to configure.
  2. Compare the current values with the defaults explained below.
  3. Change one option at a time; use the least disruptive value that meets your goal.
  4. Check the result in the group after saving.

Every setting explained

Text spam

Default: Off.

Detects spam-like text using local rules and configurable strictness.

Default: Off.

Controls external links, Telegram links, invite links, mentions and allow/deny lists.

Forwarded messages

Default: Off.

Filters forwards from channels, groups, users, bots and hidden users.

AI spam check

Default: Off.

Optional command-based AI check. Treat as an assistant, not the only moderation layer.

Practical example

For a public support chat, start with standard text filtering, block only unwanted Telegram invitations and allow forwards from the official news channel. Review the log before enabling bans.

Recommendations

  • Do not enable every strict action at once. Tune one filter, then move to the next.
  • For public groups, links and forwards usually deserve separate policies.

Troubleshooting

  • Check that Defendy is still an administrator in the group.
  • Refresh the settings panel and make sure you are editing the correct group.
  • If a setting is saved but does not work, check the bot permissions in Telegram.
  • If you are not sure what happened, open the moderation log.
