Set up captcha

Connect captcha#

1. Add @defendy_bot to the group.
2. Grant permission to delete messages and restrict or remove members.
3. Open the Defendy WebApp from Telegram and select the group.
4. Open Captcha and enable it.
5. Choose In chat or Join requests, a challenge type, time limit, attempts and failure action.
6. If you select random type, choose at least one type for its pool.
7. Save the settings.

Verify the result#

Use a test group or a second account. A new member should receive the challenge, be unable to post until it is solved, and regain access after a correct answer. Separately test timeout and exhausting all attempts.

Start with the 5-minute default, one attempt and a kick. Tighten the setup only after checking the moderation log and real-member experience.

Do not grant unrelated administrator permissions. Captcha does not need permission to pin messages merely to apply a kick or ban.
