Text anti-spam

Text anti-spam settings: strictness, AI verification for new members, punishments and warning weight.

Tip: change one option at a time and verify the result in the group so false positives are easy to spot.

In short

Text anti-spam checks messages for spam patterns before links or forwards are considered. It is the safest place to start with a warning-only rollout.

How it works

  1. The local detector checks message patterns with the selected strictness.
  2. If AI checking is enabled, eligible new members receive an additional check.
  3. On a match, Defendy deletes the message if configured and applies the selected action or warning weight.

Set it up step by step

  1. Open Defendy in Telegram and choose the group you want to configure.
  2. Compare the current values with the defaults explained below.
  3. Change one option at a time; use the least disruptive value that meets your goal.
  4. Check the result in the group after saving.

Every setting explained

Enable filter

Default: On.

Turns text spam detection on for the selected group.

Strictness

Default: Standard.

Lenient reduces false positives, strict catches more spam with higher risk.

AI verification

Default: Off.

Adds AI verification for suspicious messages from new members.

New members only

Default: On.

Locked in the UI: trusted members stay on local checks only.

New member window

Default: 7 days.

How many days after joining a member is treated as new for AI verification.

Delete violating message

Default: On.

Removes the message that triggered the filter. If disabled, the user action can still be applied while the original message remains visible.

Action

Default: Nothing.

What Defendy does after a violation: nothing, warn, notify, mute, kick or ban depending on the feature.

Action duration

Default: 3600 sec.

How long a temporary mute or restriction lasts. Zero usually means no duration or permanent action.

Warning weight

Default: 1.

How many warning points this violation adds to the warning system.

Practical example

Use standard strictness, action “warn”, weight 1 and deletion on. Limit AI checks to members who joined during the last seven days. Tighten the filter only if the log shows missed spam.

Recommendations

  • Use standard strictness first, then adjust after reviewing real messages.
  • AI verification adds latency and should not replace deterministic filters.

Troubleshooting

  • Check that Defendy is still an administrator in the group.
  • Refresh the settings panel and make sure you are editing the correct group.
  • If a setting is saved but does not work, check the bot permissions in Telegram.
  • If you are not sure what happened, open the moderation log.
