LiveFrequently asked questions
Answers to frequently asked questions about Defendy: the panel, bot permissions, roles, plans, forums, warnings and AI spam check.
Do I need to install a separate app?
No. The settings open in the built-in panel right inside Telegram (Telegram WebApp). Just add @defendy_bot to your group and open the panel.
What permissions does the bot need?
Only the ones required by the enabled modules: usually deleting messages and restricting or banning members. Do not grant unnecessary permissions "just in case" — details are on the Bot permissions page.
How is a Defendy role different from a Telegram administrator?
They are related but different things. A Telegram administrator is set in the group settings. Defendy roles (moderator, helper and others) determine access to the bot's commands. After changing administrators in Telegram, run /reload. Learn more — Roles and permissions.
Is Defendy free?
The Free plan is available. The Pro and Business plans are prepared, but public payment is not open yet — this is a feature in Beta status.
How do I open the group settings?
Open the bot in Telegram, launch the panel and select the group you need. All settings are applied to the selected group separately.
Does Defendy work in forums and topics?
Yes. The bot's messages (captcha, greetings, reputation notifications) can be directed to a chosen forum topic with the /settopic, /setcaptchatopic, /setgreetingtopic, /setfarewelltopic, /setreputationtopic commands.
When does a warning lead to a punishment?
Each violation adds weight to a member's counter. When the limit is reached, the chosen action is triggered: a restriction, removal from the group or a ban. The limit and action are configured with the /setwarnlimit, /setwarnmode commands or with escalation steps in the panel.
Can trusted members be excluded from filters?
Yes. The "exempt member" role (/free) grants immunity to filters. For the captcha there is a separate exclusion list by users and roles.
Is the AI spam check accurate?
It is an additional layer in Beta status. Use it as a helper, not as the only protection. The check runs via the /spam command (as a reply to a message) and is limited by the plan's monthly limit.
The bot deleted a message I needed — what should I do?
Check which module and rule were triggered in the action log, and soften the setting: lower the strictness, add an exception or choose a milder action. All automatic actions are recorded in the log.
Nothing helped — where do I write?
