Low-reputation sanctions

Low-reputation sanctions: link restrictions, media restrictions and slow mode thresholds.

Tip: change one option at a time and verify the result in the group so false positives are easy to spot.

In short

Sanctions can limit risky actions for members below configured reputation thresholds.

How it works

  1. After a reputation change, Defendy compares the member's score with enabled sanction thresholds.
  2. Crossing an active threshold restricts the related capability, such as links or media.
  3. When reputation recovers beyond the threshold, the integration can stop applying that restriction to new checks.

Set it up step by step

  1. Open Defendy in Telegram and choose the group you want to configure.
  2. Compare the current values with the defaults explained below.
  3. Change one option at a time; use the least disruptive value that meets your goal.
  4. Check the result in the group after saving.

Every setting explained

Default: 0.

Members at or below this threshold cannot send links. Options: off, −5, −10, −20, −50 or −100.

Restrict media below

Default: 0.

Members at or below this threshold cannot send media. Options: off, −5, −10, −20 or −50.

Slow mode below (coming soon)

Default: 0.

Reserved options: off, −5, −10, −20, −30 or −50. The current WebApp control is disabled and cannot be configured.

Slow mode delay (coming soon)

Default: 60 sec.

Reserved options: 30, 60, 120, 300, 600 or 3,600 seconds. This disabled control appears only if a non-zero threshold already exists.

Practical example

Restrict links below −10 and media below −20 so the stronger restriction needs a worse score. Slow mode is marked coming soon and should not be part of the current policy.

Recommendations

  • Use sanctions after members understand how reputation works.
  • Link and media restrictions are configurable now; slow mode is visibly marked coming soon.

Troubleshooting

  • Check that Defendy is still an administrator in the group.
  • Refresh the settings panel and make sure you are editing the correct group.
  • If a setting is saved but does not work, check the bot permissions in Telegram.
  • If you are not sure what happened, open the moderation log.
